DHL and FedEx both clear customs on your behalf and deliver to the door. DHL is generally faster into Europe and Asia, FedEx into North America, and we book whichever is quicker to your address unless you ask for one specifically. Express is the default on anything above $1,000 and mandatory on watches and jewelry.

Timelines run from dispatch, not from the day you pay. Dispatch is typically one to three business days after purchase, since the piece has to reach our packing point in Japan first.

Shipping cost and when it is charged

For most pieces shipping and processing comes to about $50 to $65. It is added after the item is secured, because the cost depends on the actual weight and dimensions of the parcel. The figure covers carriage, insurance for the full replacement value, and processing for protective packing and export paperwork. You get an itemized email before it is dispatched.

Insurance

Every shipment is insured for the full replacement value rather than the declared value. It appears as its own line on the shipping charge. If something is lost or damaged in transit we file the claim ourselves and refund or replace the item. You do not deal with the carrier.

Customs and duty

Duty and import tax are assessed by your own country on the declared value. They are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in the quoted price. Watches, jewelry and leather goods commonly attract higher rates than apparel, and we will tell you what to expect for your category before you commit.

We declare value and contents accurately on all paperwork. We will not mark a parcel as a gift or under-declare its value: doing so puts the parcel at risk of seizure and caps any insurance claim at the declared figure.

Packaging

Watches and jewelry ship in padded hard cases, sneakers are double-boxed with the original box protected inside a shipping carton, and fragile collectibles are wrapped and cushioned. Original boxes, papers and accessories travel with the item. Everything is photographed immediately before packing, and those photographs are yours if a claim is ever needed.

Where we ship

Most countries worldwide. A few categories cannot be exported from Japan or imported into certain countries, including some exotic leathers, ivory and particular vintage materials. If you are unsure, ask before submitting a request and we will check it for you.

Returns

We do not accept returns for a change of mind. Each piece is bought individually for you once you approve it, so there is no stock for it to go back to. An item that is not authentic, or that materially differs from the photographs and grade you approved, is a different matter and is refunded or replaced.

If something goes wrong

Email hello@findluxuryjapan.com with your order reference. We work across three time zones and answer anything urgent within three hours.
